Ah Xian (Born 1960 in Beijing) is a Chinese born artist based in Sydney, Australia. Ah Xian was a practising artist in China throughout the 1980s. He sought political asylum in Australia following the events of Tiananmen Square in 1989 and moved to Sydney in 1990. He started work on porcelain casting in the 1990s, and produced the ''China China'' and ''Human Human'' series of busts and figures. ==Awards and honors== * In 2001, he won the National Gallery of Australia's inaugural National Sculpture Prize. * In 2009, he won the final Clemenger Contemporary Art Award from the National Gallery of Victoria.
